Heald Reunion

Our trip east... We went back to Yuma Tuesday night after Matt's appointment. We headed for the Heald Family Reunion at Fort Gibson Lake in OK on Wednesday morning. We were in the car for about 26 hours straight before we reached the lake. It took us an entire day to cross AZ, so we decided to drive through the night. Ben, Matt, and the dogs are all really good travelers, but we had to make lots of stops during the day. We were the first ones to get to the cabins on Thursday. We played some ping pong at the lodge, napped and waited. The cabins were kind of gross - bugs, dirt. I'm still not sure if I believe that Granny ever stayed there. Scorpions, wasps, and spiders, oh my! It was great to see everyone. The weather was nice.
We passed a few cacti in AZ...
After a bath at the cabin, Ben and Matt were ready to go hiking.
Matt is ready to slide.
Ben shows Granddad his new toy from his kid's meal. Ben got to be Spiderman. Granddad had to be the other guy.
Matt and Granddad
Matt was apparently able to reach the diapers on the dresser and decided to soften up the pack-n-play by sprinkling a few around before he fell asleep on top of them.
Ben liked playing cars with Grandpa. They both make lots of sound effects and think crashing is funny.
I got to drive Grandpa's Smart Car. I feel a little smarter. I guess I should have gone a little farther. I did finally figure out that the beeping noise was because I didn't close the door tight. Argh!
The sunset from the lodge.
Matt enjoyed someone's cheese puffs.
Ben had an emergency potty break in the lake. Potty training is an adventure.
Ben was so tired. He fell asleep in the cart at Walmart on Mimi's arm.
Five of the seven great grandchildren born in 2007 were at the lake. What a cute group!
Matt liked the bean bags. Ben was too busy playing with the big kids to slow down. He is still missing them. He keeps the golf ball Chelsea got out of the lake for him in his car seat.
We left the lake Saturday after dinner to drive overnight to GA. Another peaceful trip. We arrived in GA about noon, ate lunch and napped. We'll be in and out of GA for a few weeks before we pack up and go back west. Dan should fly to Pensacola on Sunday for his safety school.
