This deployment feels like a military version of "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?" We occassionally lose communication from him (our once a day email doesn't happen), but I suppose staying safe is good. They don't want to give away their location. They call this no communication time "River City". He does receive email, so that is good. He can look at the pictures that I try to send him everday.
I do know he was in Guam about 10 days ago. He went to the beach and jumped off some rocks, grabbed some dinner, and bought some stuff at the exchange. They only had a couple hours of liberty before they had to return to their ship. He has mentioned doing some flights near Malaysia and taking pictures of Singapore from the ship. Other than that, he seems to be doing well and keeping some crazy hours (not much different from home really - thanks twins!).
He is once again in River City, and I'm not sure when I'll hear from him again. We have completed one month of the seven month deployment. Let's hope he doesn't get extended!
