Dan deploys tomorrow for Japan. He will be flying two legs for their trip over. He will fly from Yuma to Hawaii and from Wake Island to Iwakuni, Japan following a tanker and refueling every 15 minutes for about 7 hours on the first leg. The other leg should be shorter. He'll be a passenger on a KC10 for the second leg from Hawaii to Wake Island.
We're hoping he will only be gone for 5 months. I've included his contact information if you would like to get in touch with him. His cell phone number will not work while he's gone. I will post this information on our blog and try to keep it updated with any news from Dan - www.dhbm.blogspot.com .

If you would like to mail a care package, here are some tips:
1. Put the address on a piece of paper inside the top of the box or envelope in addition to addressing the outside.
2. Packages can be sent Priority or parcel post. The parcel must not weigh more than 70 lbs. and no more than 108 inches. The 108-inch size limitation is determined by [(4 x the width) + length]. You must cover or remove any copyrighted trademarks. FPO addresses require a customs form be completed and attached to the package.
3. Food items should be non-perishable. First class letters can take up to 10 days to reach him, and parcel posts can take as long as 6 weeks!
4. Dan will be moving around quite a bit (Yuma - HI - Wake Island - Iwakuni, Japan - Kadena AB, Japan - Philippines - Kadena AB - USS Essex - Kadena AB - Iwakuni - home) and will have a limited living space. His mail will eventually find him using this address. Feel free to use our home address as the return address if you think it may not reach him before he heads home.
5. Parcels and articles mailed from outside the continental US are subject to examination by US Customs' officials, with the recipient liable for duties assessed. For more info, check out the US Customs' website at www.customs.gov .
